New Zealand Music Theatre Company exists to raise the bar on the current music theatre climate in New Zealand, providing professional development for our current working and training music theatre artists.
With a need in our industry for continuing education and training for our professional music theatre artists, NZMTC presents our first Music Theatre Masterclass event. This workshop is a two day intensive with industry professional David Wynen, direct from New York.

DAVID WYNEN’s theatre credits include the Australasian tour of 42nd Street, Hocus Pocus, Showstoppers, and The Australian Opera, as well as, in the Australian cast of Billy Elliott. David has choreographed Anything Goes, Guys and Dolls, The Wizard of Oz, Kiss Me Kate, Working, Company, Prodigal, Merrily We Roll Along, Sweet Charity, The Witches of Eastwick, The White Rose, Smash Hit, and Godspell. In addition, he directed and choreographed , The World Goes Round, The Life, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Sweet Charity, Addams Family and 42nd Street. He also produced, choreographed and directed Cabaret in the Deluxe Spiegeltent. He has lectured at the VCA (AUS), Lehman College (NY), and Carnegie Mellon University (USA), and until June 2017 was the Senior Lecturer, and Program Leader of Music Theatre at Federation University, Australia. In August 2017, David joined the faculty of the State University of New York.
David has been instrumental in teaching and mentoring students and professionals, working in such diverse fields as: film, TV, event management, choreography, direction, writing and performance. His students have appeared in Australian and international productions such as: Kinky Boots, Beautiful, Muriel’s Wedding, Mamma Mia, We Will Rock You, Wicked, Legally Blonde, Jersey Boys, Matilda, Les Miserables, The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Hairspray, Cats, Strictly Ballroom, Chorus Line, Lion King and The Producers.
This weekend masterclass will include a workshop on Luigi technique, singing the subtext, cold reads and understanding your branding as a artist. Day two will see you be put through the paces of a professional, industry audition and casting.
